Yoga is a centuries-old philosophy and practice, through which we aspire to balance the body and the mind. People are often drawn to yoga for its physical exercises or postures (asana), which can improve flexibility, strength and balance. Many find it helps with relaxation and mental equanimity and focus. In a yoga session, we work on postural alignment, breath control (pranayama), and finding steadiness and freedom in mind and body.

The world's most widely practised method of Yoga is that taught by Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar. He has been one of the world's leading and most influential exponents of yoga, having studied and practised yoga for over 80 years. Until his passing (on 20 August 2014) in his 96th year, Yogacharya Iyengar taught teachers all over the world, and wrote key works on yoga philosophy and practice. The Iyengar approach to yoga is rigorous and lively, with careful attention to the needs of each individual student.

Ros Bell attended yoga classes as a student in Oxford, then visited India in 1977 to study with Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar in Pune.  Since that time she has consistently studied and taught Iyengar yoga, and has made return visits to India to study with the Iyengars. She holds an Intermediate Senior (Level 3) teaching certificate with the national association, Iyengar Yoga (UK), and is one of its most experienced yoga teachers, mentors and assessors. Ros never tires of teaching yoga, and loves the fact that there are always new aspects to be discovered in familiar practices.
